So I’d really like to launch this website, but honestly haven’t had time to write up some of the reviews that have been brewing. In lieu of letting that ‘reviews’ link stay empty, I’ve decided to write a (slightly) filler-ish post so the link leads somewhere.
Without further ado, here’s a list of some upcoming reviews I’m hoping to get to after I return from the USk Symposium in Amsterdam:
- Bee Paper Super Deluxe Mixed Media paper (my favorite, generally)
- Stillman & Birn Alpha
- Leuchtturm Pocket Sketchbook
- Hahnemule travel journal
- Art Alternatives Pen & Ink heavyweight sketchbook
- Etchr sketchbook
One I get some of these written up, I’ll come back and link to the reviews themselves. For now, this will have to do as something of a ‘placeholder’ post. Once I get down all my thoughts about these sketchbooks, I may move on to inks as their own topic, because I’ve started to have Highly Specific Opinions about those too, and my dear friends and family are beginning to acquire that eyes-glazed-over look when I try to tell them about inks.
While I’m setting out intentions, I do not intend to post any reviews about watercolors, at least not for the foreseeable future at present, because there is seriously a crazy wealth of knowledge on that subject from far more qualified persons than myself. Waterclors are still very new to me and I’m incredibly unqualified to weigh in on them from any critical perspective. At present I’m mostly using Daniel Smith and Winsor & Newton paints off of recommendations from other people’s blogs. (Perhaps an actually-useful post might be a roundup of other people’s watercolor reviews that I’ve found helpful?)
For now, thanks for reading! More to come soon.
